Richard Fromewick Writes, "Nassau Tax Bills - Confusing"

Nov 17, 2020
The Nassau school tax bills usually payable in November, are now payable December 10, 2020. This is very confusing to say the least. Most show increases in assessment that are phased in over five years even if the total taxes are down. It is still advisable to file a complaint now for January because increased assessments still mean increased market values that are probably exaggerated due to our current COVID-19 environment. Nassau County must make clear how they arrived at these new assessments and how they are phasing in the new higher tax rates. This is, in fact, the most confusing real estate taxes ever and so wrong for it to be happening during the pandemic we are facing. Stay safe!
