Nassau County will release its 2027–28 school and general real estate tax assessments on January 2, 2026. Because assessments are set a full year in advance, any challenge must be filed now. Once the 2027 tax bills arrive, it’s too late to contest them.
Keep in mind that the County will be using a new ratio of assessment to market value, so the number you see on your notice will not reflect the Assessor’s estimate of your property’s actual market price.
If you’ve completed substantial renovations, you may qualify for an ongoing partial exemption, but the application must be submitted before December 31, 2025.
To avoid unnecessary increases in 2027, make sure your new assessment is reviewed by someone who handles this work regularly — ideally an attorney with deep experience in Long Island tax certiorari matters.
