Over 400 attorneys, colleagues, members of the judiciary and family of the late Judge Bernard S. Meyer were in attendance at Nassau County Supreme Court Monday, September 19, 2005 to pay tribute to the former NYS Supreme Court Judge and NYS Court of Appeals Justice. A brilliant legal scholar, consummate attorney, distinguished judge, Bernard Meyer was not only loved by all who knew him, but lived a life in which his love of fellow man was exemplary as he toiled for over 65 years to improve human rights and defend the rights of those less fortunate. Hon. Anthony Marano, Nassau County Administrative Judge of Nassau County welcomed all guests and presided over the ceremonies along with the Hon. Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the State of New York. Tributary speeches and remarks were given by colleagues, friends and family members including: Hon. Jeffrey G. Stark (retired) Supreme Court Justice (and MSEK co-chair of Litigation & Dispute Resolution); Christopher T. McGrath, Esq., President of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Hon. Leon D. Lazer (retired) Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Judicial Department. The Keynote address was given by the Hon. Judith S. Kaye and a response, and personal reflections of the man Bernard S. Meyer was, was given by his daughter Patricia Meyer. The Hon. Anthony Marano provided closing remarks and was followed by the closing proclamation given by William B. Harkins, Deputy Chief Clerk, Nassau County Supreme Court.
