On October 6th, Thomas Slome will Co-Chair the New York City Bar program. The topic of the program is, Strategies for Addressing Compensation & Benefits Issues in Chapter 11 Bankruptcies. Senior practitioners from the fields of bankruptcy, compensation and benefits will discuss current legal developments and strategies for addressing compensation and benefit issues that frequently arise in Chapter 11 reorganizations.
This program will address:
•The structuring and implementation of employee retention programs and severance arrangements and compliance with Federal and state WARN statutes
•Issues related to retirement benefit obligations, including multiemployer plan withdrawal liability, restructuring of retiree health obligations, and strategies for negotiating with Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and for addressing liabilities related to ongoing and terminated pension plans
•The interaction between ERISA and the Bankruptcy Code with respect to fiduciary liability claims and the joint and several liability of non-bankruptcy affiliates of the debtor
