Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C. is pleased to announce that its client, Empire State Health Solutions, has been chosen by the New York State Department of Health as one of the  five registered organizations authorized  to produce and dispense medical marijuana in New York. Empire’s sister company, Minnesota Medical Solutions, started sales earlier this month in Minnesota.

Our client was one of 43 applicants vying to win a medical marijuana franchise in New York – a license granted only to five organizations. The decision to select our client and the four others was issued after what the Health Department called a “rigorous and comprehensive” review of the 43 applicants.

Now that it has been given the green light, Empire State Health Solutions plans to set up its manufacturing facility in a technology park northwest of Albany, and have dispensaries in Albany County, Westchester County, Broome County, and Queens.

Barry Peek, Co-Chair of the firm’s Medical Marijuana practice said, “we are ecstatic to be a part of this ground breaking endeavor and look forward to our continued relationship with Empire State Health Solutions as they work through the regulatory and banking issues we expect they will face.”

Empire State Health Solutions is represented by Barry Peek, Hanan Kolko and Richard Winsten, Co-Chairs of the Meyer Suozzi’s Medical Marijuana practice. For more information on the firm’s Medical Marijuana practice, please visit www.nycannabisattorney.com.
