Carmela T. Montesano is Of Counsel to Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C.'s Trusts and Estates Department. She concentrates her practice in estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax law; wills, trusts and estate administration law; related areas of income tax law and corporate and partnership law involving the transfer of ownership and control in family-owned businesses and properties with a particular emphasis on the formation, organization, management and succession of closely-held limited liability entities, such as S corporations, limited liability companies, limited liability partnerships and family limited partnerships.

Prior to joining Meyer, Suozzi in September 2005, Ms. Montesano was actively involved in the private practice of law in New York and was previously associated with the law firm of Silverstein & Mullens, a division of Buchanan, Ingersoll P.C. in Washington, D.C.

Publications
Ms. Montesano is the author of numerous publications regarding Federal income tax issues and Federal estate and gift tax issues published by BNA TAX Management in its “Tax Practice Series.” She is also the author of a chapter regarding “qualified personal residence trusts,” which was published by the American Bar Association in Estate Planning Strategies: A Lawyer’s Guide to Retirement and Lifetime Planning”. She authored a chapter regarding inter vivos gifts to minors, which was published by the American Bar Association in Tax, Estate and Lifetime Planning for Minorsin May 2006.

Ms. Montesano is a member of the New York State Bar Association and of three of its Sections: Trusts and Estates Law, Elder Law and Real Property Law.
