Robert N. Zausmer was re-named a Member of the firm in March 2009. Previously he held the position Of Counsel to Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C.’s litigation practice group located in Garden City, Long Island, N.Y., having rejoined the firm in April 2007. He focuses his practice in all aspects of commercial civil litigation and criminal law, including motion practice, trials and appeals. Mr. Zausmer has extensive experience in cases involving non-competition and restrictive covenants in employment contracts; shareholder disputes; dissolution of closely-held corporations; representation of attorneys in disciplinary proceedings; and representation of defendants in criminal cases.
Professional Profile
Mr. Zausmer served as Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney's Office from 1973 until 1979. From 1979 to 1983 he was an attorney at the general practice firm on Peirez, Ackerman & Levine in Great Neck. Mr. Zausmer joined Meyer, Suozzi originally in 1983 as an Associate and was made a partner in 1984, a position he held for 20 years. In June 2004 Mr. Zausmer left the firm to become Associate General Legal Counsel to The Robert Plan (Woodbury, NY), a client he represented over the years. In April 2007, Mr. Zausmer rejoined Meyer, Suozzi as Of Counsel.
Education
Mr. Zausmer received his Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law in 1973. In 1970 he graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York University’s College of Arts & Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts. Mr. Zausmer is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Community Involvement
Mr. Zausmer is a former Village Justice in the Village of Saddle Rock (2005-2009) and a former President of Young Israel of Great Neck and the North Shore Hebrew Academy, which his grandson's now attend.
Admissions
Mr. Zausmer is admitted to practice law in New York State and before the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest level in professional excellence, and he was recognized by L.I. Pulse Magazine in 2010 and 2011 as one of the region's "Top Legal Eagles".
