Lynn M. Brown is Of Counsel to Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C., and is a part of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Education Law practice groups located in Garden City, Long Island, N.Y. Ms. Brown has been involved in all aspects of state and federal litigation, with particular emphasis on complex commercial disputes, including antitrust, fraud and securities law actions, contract disputes, construction law matters, partnership disputes, corporate break-ups, defamation cases, landlord-tenant disputes, professional liability and malpractice claims, matters concerning the enforceability of restrictive covenants, and wrongful termination, unfair competition and other business torts. She has handled traditional litigation matters as well as arbitrations and mediations, and has argued on the trial and appellate levels.

Along with partner Donnalynn Darling, Ms. Brown is a founding member of the firm’s Education Law practice, an outgrowth of her own experiences as the parent of a special-needs child. She routinely appears before the Committees on Special Education of numerous Long Island school districts, and in connection with impartial (due process) hearings, securing timely educational evaluations, services and accommodations for learning-disabled children under federal and state law. Ms. Brown also appears on behalf of students in connection with disciplinary matters, including long and short-term suspensions.

Professional Profile

Ms. Brown was trained at what is now KMZ Rosenman, where she was both a summer associate and litigation associate. She also served as litigation associate at Webster & Sheffield from 1985 to 1991. Ms. Brown then practiced at a litigation boutique firm, where a significant amount of her time was spent on employment law matters and litigating on behalf of several major hospital clients. Ms. Brown began her career at Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C. as an associate in 2000, and was promoted to Of Counsel in 2003. She has represented a major tobacco company, publicly-traded, closely-held, and multi-million dollar corporations, as well as business professionals.

Community Involvement

Ms. Brown is a member of the Board and Officer of Child Care Council of Nassau County, Inc. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, the AHA Association, the National Association of Professional Women, and the Long Island Women’s Agenda (LIWA).

Admissions
Ms. Brown is admitted to practice law in New York State and before the Supreme Court of the United States, all New York State courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Ms. Brown also has been admitted in numerous out-of-state jurisdictions pro hac vice.
