Melanie D. Hendry Named NYS Bar Association House of Delegates

Melanie D. Hendry, an Associate in the law firm of Meyer, Suozzi, English and Klein, has been appointed to the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates representing persons of racial and ethnic diversity. In this capacity, Ms Hendry will serve an integral role ensuring that actions by the House of Delegates is reflective of the Association’s membership a group in fulfilling the mission of the State Bar.

The House of Delegates serves as the trustees of the Association. They control and manage the business and affairs of the Association and determine Association policy including supervision and direction of the officers, Executive Committee, sections, committees, and employees. Ms Hendry’s term commences on June 1, 2009 and will run through May 31, 2010.

“The work of the Bar Association is invaluable, and I am pleased to be involved in ensuring its actions, policies and work meet the highest objectives of its mission,” said Hendry. “The programs and resources of the NYS Bar Association are second to none in meeting the needs of the legal profession throughout the state, throughout our careers, and I am proud to make this contribution ensuring this work is reflective of the racial and ethnic diversity we enjoy across the State.”

Ms Hendry has served as an Associate in Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C.’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution department since September 2004.  Ms Hendry’s practice includes all facets of state and federal civil litigation, as well as arbitration, involving complex commercial disputes, contracts, employment, partnership and corporate disputes, bankruptcy, restrictive covenants, personal injury, trade secrets and intellectual property. 
 
Ms. Hendry is admitted to practice in New York State and in the United States District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Ms. Hendry received a B.A., magna cum laude, in Political Science from Adelphi University in 1998.  In 2004, Ms. Hendry graduated summa cum laude from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Ms. Hendry is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.  In February 2006, she was named to the Board of Directors of the Long Island Fund for Women and Girls.  Ms. Hendry was appointed Interim Recording Secretary of the Executive Board of the Touro Law Center Alumni Association in January 2008. In June 2008, Ms. Hendry was appointed to the New York State Bar Association Committee on Minorities in the Profession.
