A. THOMAS LEVIN CONCLUDES TERM ON THE ADVISORY BOARD
State University of New York Government Law Center at Albany Law School March 20, 2009
A. Thomas Levin, Chair of the of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein Municipal Law, Land Use and Environmental Compliance practice, and former President of the New York State Bar Association, has concluded eight years of service as a member of the Advisory Board of the State University of New York Government Law Center at Albany Law School.
“I am proud when I am able to give back to my community and profession,” said Levin. “The Government Law Center is the preeminent legal and policy research center in New York State and prepares its students for careers in law and public service by introducing them to methods of policy and analysis.”
“ I was able to lend my years of expertise in helping to shape the focus of law students who were training on how to best deal with the growing number of societal challenges that they will face once they graduate.”
Mr. Levin concentrates his practice in the fields of local government law, land use regulation, and commercial litigation, representing both private and public sector clients. He presently serves as Village Attorney for eight Nassau County villages and is the Special Prosecutor for the Village of North Hills. He serves or has served as special counsel to scores of other municipalities and school districts, including Nassau County, the City of Long Beach, the City of Glen Cove, the Town of Hempstead, the Town of North Hempstead, the Copiague School District, Rockville Centre School District, Hempstead School District, Hewlett-Woodmere School District, Western Suffolk Board of Cooperative Education, Town of Brookhaven, Great Neck/North Shore Cable Commission and The Public Access Television Corporation.
Mr. Levin is currently Immediate Past President of the National Caucus of State Bar Associations and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Conference of Bar Presidents. Mr. Levin is Past President of the New York State Bar Association, a Life Member of that Association’s House of Delegates, and a member of the Executive Committee of its Municipal Law Section. He is also a Past President of the Nassau County Bar Association.
Mr. Levin is admitted to practice law in New York, Florida, the United States Virgin Islands, the United States Supreme Court, and various other federal courts.
