2012 New York Super Lawyers Recognizes Seven Attorneys at Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C.

(Garden City, NY) September 20, 2012- Seven attorneys at Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein P.C. have been named to the New York Super Lawyers list in New York for 2012. Those recognized in our Garden City, N.Y. office include: A. Thomas Levin; Kevin Schlosser; and Edward J. LoBello. Those recognized in our New York City, N.Y. office include: Irwin Bluestein; Barry Peek; Hanan Kolko; and Joni Kletter (Rising Star). No more than 5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this Super Lawyers recognition.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a rigorous multi-phased process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area.

A. Thomas Levin chairs the firm's Municipal Law, Land Use and Environmental Compliance practice and the Professional Responsibility practice.  He represents public and private sector clients in the fields of local government law, land use regulation, commercial litigation and matters relating to professional responsibility, ethics and disciplinary proceedings. He presently serves as Village Attorney in seven Nassau County Villages and Special Prosecutor in two Nassau County villages. Mr. Levin is the former President of the New York State Bar Association and former Chair of the National Caucus of State Bar Associations.

Kevin Schlosser chairs the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. An experienced civil litigator, Mr. Schlosser has engineered the legal strategy for a broad range of cases and arbitrations, including complex commercial disputes, business torts, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, professional liability and malpractice claims, construction law, real estate and commercial landlord-tenant disputes, corporate and partnership disputes, ERISA, health law, Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act class actions, employment and restrictive covenants, intellectual property, products liability, insurance claims and defense, including disability insurance claims and the prosecution and defense of other tort-related claims.

Edward J. LoBello is a Member of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization and Corporate Finance groups. He represents all major constituents in bankruptcy cases including debtors in possession, creditors' committees, committee members, institutional lenders, trade creditors, landlords, insurance companies, equipment lessors, asset purchasers, and preference defendants.

Irwin Bluestein is a Member of the firm’s Labor and Employment Law groups; he represents local, intermediate, and international labor organizations and related employee benefit funds in both the public and private sectors.

Barry J. Peek practices in the areas of labor and employment law and represents major public and private sector unions and their individual members. Mr. Peek is responsible for negotiating various labor contracts on behalf of unions who have collective bargaining agreements with the City of New York and other municipalities throughout New York and Long Island.

Hanan B. Kolko was recognized as a highly skilled litigator in labor and employee benefits law. In addition to representing union clients before Federal and State courts, the National Labor Relations Board and the New York State Public Employment Relations Board, Mr. Kolko has skillfully handled hundreds of arbitration cases.  Mr. Kolko advises unions and their officers on a wide variety of issues, including Landrum Griffin compliance and negotiating strategy.  He is on the boards of the Freelancers Union and the Freelancers Insurance Company, and he is a co-chair of the Committee On Technology In The Workplace of the ABA’s Labor and Employment Section.  

Joni Haviva Kletter is an Associate of the Labor and Employment Law practice in the firm’s New York City office. Ms. Kletter helps litigate numerous employment related claims and provides employment advice to employees, executives, professionals and companies, both large and small.
